With Elite Kilimanjaro Expedition

Proper nutrition is critical to your success on Kilimanjaro. Our experienced mountain chefs prepare fresh, hot, and energizing meals daily to keep you strong, warm, and healthy as you climb.


What You’ll Eat on the Mountain

Breakfast

Served early each morning in the dining tent:

  • Porridge (millet, oats, or maize)

  • Toast with jam, honey, or peanut butter

  • Eggs (boiled, fried, or omelet)

  • Pancakes or chapati

  • Sausages

  • Tea, coffee, or hot chocolate

Goal: A filling, warm start to power your morning trek.


Lunch

Depending on the itinerary, this may be:

  • Hot lunch at camp (short hiking days)

  • Packed lunch on the trail (longer hiking days)

Typical items include:

  • Chicken or beef wraps

  • Boiled eggs

  • Fresh fruit (banana, orange, apple)

  • Juice or flavored water

  • Sandwiches or rice balls


Dinner

Dinner is served after arrival at camp and some rest:

  • Hot soup (vegetable, carrot, pumpkin, lentil)

  • Main: Rice, pasta, potatoes, or ugali

  • Stews with vegetables, beans, or meat (chicken/beef)

  • Side of sautéed greens or cabbage

  • Fresh fruit or simple dessert

  • Hot tea, cocoa, or coffee

Goal: Replenish energy and support overnight recovery.

Snacks & Tea Time

Most days include an afternoon tea break:

  • Popcorn

  • Biscuits

  • Peanuts

  • Hot drinks

 You’re also encouraged to bring personal snacks:
Energy bars, trail mix, dried fruits, chocolate, or electrolyte mixes.


Special Diets? No Problem

At Elite Kilimanjaro Expedition, we accommodate:

  • Vegetarian & vegan diets

  • Gluten-free or lactose-free meals

  • Halal-friendly options

  • Food allergies (e.g., nuts, eggs)

 Just let us know at least 2 weeks before your climb.


Safe Drinking Water

  • We provide boiled and filtered mountain water daily.

  • Bring reusable bottles and optional purification tablets if desired.


 Meet Your Kitchen Crew

Every expedition includes:

  • A trained mountain chef

  • Kitchen assistants

  • A dining server (in larger groups)

Meals are served in a dining tent with chairs, tables, and full service — even above 4,000 meters.
